Haidé Cruz Villagrán

Secretary, Partner

Degree in Marine Biology and Master's Degree in Marine and Coastal Sciences at UABCS. Her professional interests are oriented towards research in genetic population and cetacean behavior. As part of the Network, she has provided support in strandings, assisting in necropsies, rotating guards of individuals in recovery, collecting samples and extracting DNA from tissues for later analysis. Member of the the Baja California Sur Stranding Network.

Academic support

She has a doctorate in Biological Sciences from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Head of the Bioengineering and Environmental Sciences Research Program (BICA) of the Autonomous University of Baja California Sur (UABCS). She is one of our academic advisors on molecular biology, bioinformatics, and genetics. Member of the Baja California Sur Stranding Network.

Fernando Elorriaga Verplancken

Doctor in Marine Sciences and researcher at the Interdisciplinary Center for Marine Sciences of the National Polytechnic Institute (CICIMAR-IPN). He offers academic support to MMARES, in terms of ecological knowledge and management of pinnipeds (sea lions and seals). He has knowledge about diving autonomous techniques in underwater rescue, assessment of damage to the marine ecosystem due to meteorological phenomena or anthropogenic causes, identification of species of marine flora and fauna and scientific diving techniques.
